Tighe-Carmody Reservoir

The Tighe-Carmody Reservoir, constructed in 1957 and located in the Town of Southampton, Massachusetts, is owned and operated by the Holyoke Water Works. The Reservoir has an impound capacity of 4.825 billion gallons and a safe yield of 13.0 million gallons of water per day. The Reservoir drainage area encompasses 9,234 acres of land located throughout Southampton, Westhampton, Huntington and Montgomery, 54% of which or approximately 4,956 acres is owned by the Holyoke Water Works. The Tighe-Carmody Reservoir dam is an earthen embankment type structure, with a structural height of 130 feet and an approximate length of 2,200 feet. The dam is classified by the Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) as a Large size structure and a High (Class I) hazard dam.
